Overview

The Journey

Every year between late January and March, the migration gathers on the short-grass plains around Ndutu and delivers roughly half a million calves in a synchronized burst — most within a three-week window. Newborns run within minutes; the predators know the schedule as well as the wildebeest do.

This is, quietly, the finest big-cat action of the migration year. Cheetah hunt on the open plains in broad daylight; lion prides shadow the nursery herds; photographers rate Ndutu’s flat light and short grass above any other migration chapter.

We base you three nights at Ndutu itself — where off-road driving is permitted, a decisive advantage when the action is two hundred metres from the track. Tarangire opens the route, and the Ngorongoro Crater closes it.

Green-season bonuses come free: dramatic skies, wildflowers, migrant birds in the thousands, and lodges at kinder rates than the July–October peak.
