A morning light-aircraft flight lifts you over the crater highlands and onto the plains — Serengeti game viewing begins before lunch. Afternoon drive through the Seronera big-cat country, arriving at camp as the light turns gold.

A full day shaped entirely around the wildlife: out before sunrise when the predators are working, a bush breakfast on the hood, siesta in camp through the heavy midday, and back among the herds for the evening hunt.

This morning is yours: an optional balloon safari at first light with champagne breakfast on landing, or a quiet dawn drive to the kopjes where lions warm themselves on the granite. The evening ends with a private bush dinner under the southern stars.

Game-drive south out of the park and up into the highlands, pausing at Olduvai Gorge en route. By afternoon you are on the crater rim, 2,300 metres up, with the whole caldera spread beneath your lodge’s windows.

Descend at gate-opening for the crater at its quietest — black-maned lions, huge tuskers and the best black rhino chances in the north. Ascend for a late lunch and drive to Arusha for your evening flight home.
